This week has been beleaguered by much over-scheduling and emergent shin splints, and I have found myself fighting to keep my mental fortitude intact, to stay committed to the running program and healthful eating plans I put in motion last month. And this week, it has been a struggle.
I realize it is inevitable to have highs and lows where these things are concerned, and I am making a concerted effort to stay positive and to just do something, anything, EVERY SINGLE DAY that gets me even one tiny step closer to my goals. This week, it has been a battle.
I have mulled over the challenges this week has brought me, and talked it over with those closest to me, and put it out there to the universe that THIS WEEK I need a little cosmic push to KEEP ON GOING.
Linda Lee at All & Sundry said:
So, there is this: trying the best you can. There is this: pushing yourself past of what you believe you are capable of. There is this: living in the moment you are in, and letting go of the things that have already happened. There is adventure when you can take it, a quiet room when you can find it.
Tomorrow will be like today but it will also be different and you won’t know how and maybe there is a wild and luscious beauty to that.
I like that. It gives me hope for next week.

Okay, so this might be kind of off the subject, but have you tried Zumba? Sooo much more fun than running. ; ) I can easily be persuaded to not go to the gym (dinner anyone?), but always find myself making excuses to go to Zumba. I am not sure if you are in Tulsa, but there are several instructors I would recommend if you are interested in trying it. (Sorry if you are already a Zumba fan and this is old news!)
Hey. Listen girlfriend. I’m sitting here eating an apple and string cheese as I read your blog. Did you hear that? NO BAGEL. Now that is some love. So if I can make it through the 2 1/2 minutes it takes to read (and comment) on your blog without carbs, I have no doubt you can make it through this week with your running, fiber-fantastic program. So hoo-ya!! Who’s gonna run that 5k (or whatever you’re doing)?? KATIE!! Who’s gonna eat those carrot sticks?? KATIE!! Go team, go team, go team!!!!!!!!!!!
Kristin, why in the Sam Hill are you cheering for KATIE?!?!?!
I’M the one who needs the pep rally. Gawd.
– JENNY
P.S. I’m laughing SO hard, girl.
^%$#!$#%
Because I was just emailing with a Katie and I was looking at the name Katie in the comment above.
Slap. me. now.
Go JENNY, go JENNY, go JENNY!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!
And Katie, whoever you are, if you’re out there, YOU GO GIRL too!!!
HILARITY. PURE HILARITY.
Comment gold.
Kristin, you rock me like a hurricane.
Kristen….you are a doll!! I am officially one of the “skinny bitches” from a previous post. I am training for my first half-marathon, so yes…I need the encouragement too!! (and I “get” to eat carbs…they’re runners’ best friends!!)
And Jenny–you are AWESOME!!! You can do it! Just remember, fun t-shirts/medals!
See what you started, Kristin?? Now ALL the freaking Katies of the world are going to come here for motivation. THANKS. A. LOT.
On second thought, more readers is cool. So THANKS. A. LOT.

REPEATING TO SELF.
Because of reading your earlier posts I decided to try the couch to 5K myself. It lasted about 10 minutes and resulted on me checking my pulse convinced that I was having a heart attack, sucking on my inhaler hoping for a miracle, and lots of degrading comments directed at myself for being so out of shape. You know what it also did? It shamed me into getting back into my workout routine that I quit well over a year ago. All thanks to you! Thanks man. You RHOK!
And as for you having a lack of motivation, don’t worry. A couple of weeks ago you unknowingly were my motivation for getting moving again, and this week I’ll be happy to be yours.
Thanks, Kelly, I REALLYREALLYREALLY needed that.
I got off work early today, and was seriously considering going home for a catnap before picking up the kids, but read your comment, and instead decided to head to the park for C25K Week Four Day One.
This friends motivating friends thing is THE BOMB. Thanks again.
